Architectural Technologist (Special Project Opportunity)

CTM Design Services Ltd. is a licensed engineering firm providing engineering design services in various disciplines and jurisdictions from Ontario to British Columbia. Together with CTM Architecture Ltd., we provide an integrated design service. Rather than be all things to all people, we specialize in gas bars, convenience stores, quick-service restaurants, retail, and commercial space. CTM works with both independent owner/operators and corporate clients to create inviting, efficient, superbly designed, productive, and profitable environments that elevate the brand experience.  

CTM Design Services Ltd. is looking to add an Architectural Technologist to our team. The candidate must have experience in all facets of architectural design with respect to commercial/light industrial buildings and facilities. Candidates must also have experience in field site audits and inspection work.

Reporting to a Project Lead, responsibilities will include:

  • Attending client sites and completing a 3D scan as-builts using Matterport Pro2. Extended travel across Alberta and British Columbia may be required from February through April to support a client program.
  • Integrating scan data into Revit
  • Conducting building code analysis
  • Producing architectural working drawings under the direction of the Project Lead
  • Communicating and coordinating with internal discipline teams (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure proper design coordination
  • Conducting a thorough review of architectural working drawings prior to issuance
  • Collecting applicable permit requirements from municipalities
  • Performing site audits and construction inspections

Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Architectural Technologist Diploma from an accredited institution
  • Architectural design & drafting experience using AutoCAD and REVIT BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a definite asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on effective collaboration and integration is required
  • Proficient in working with the latest versions of Building Codes (experience with ABC and NBC (National Building Code) is necessary)
  • The ability to multi-task and be able to transition effectively amongst multiple projects will be an asset
  • Team player, detail orientated, with an aptitude to learn and the ability to work under pressure

Primary Location 

  • CTM Design is a remote-working employer. Candidates must be able to provide home office facilities. Travel to sites under construction will be required on occasion. 
  • Candidates located in western Canada are preferred. Applicants from outside Canada with not be considered.

  • CTM Design requires employees in this position to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as visits to client sites are required. 

Position Type 

  • Full time, permanent, open term employment agreement
